Gateway to dairy production and products

Codex and India’s White Revolution

The Operation Flood programme, which launched in 1970, transformed India from a dairy-deficient nation into the global leader in milk production. Millions of small-scale dairy farmers have more than doubled the milk available per person in the country while building the nation’s largest self-sustainable rural employment generator, returning 80 percent of profits directly to farmers. This video is shot in the town of Anand where developments began and examines the role that the Codex Alimentarius continues to play in helping to ensure the standards and practices that underlie India’s ‘White Revolution’.
