Bilateral meeting with the CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), Hisham bin Saad Al-Jadhey

Rome - The FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, met with Dr Hisham bin Saad Al-Jadhey, CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), on the sidelines of the 46th session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission taking place at the Headquarters of FAO.

The Director-General welcomed the CEO to FAO, highlighting the strong cooperation between FAO and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and stressing the important role of national food safety institutions in supporting food security.

Dr Al Jadhey provided an overview of SFDA’s vision in protecting consumers through regulations and effective controls to ensure the safety of food and drugs. In this respect, the CEO appreciated the strong role of FAO in supporting food security and food safety standards.

The FAO Director-General and the CEO of SFDA agreed to continue their cooperation, through science-based approaches to support food security, food safety, and better nutrition in the context of transforming agrifood systems.
