Bilateral meeting with the Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of Mongolia - Odbayar Erdenetsogt

Rome - The FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, had a bilateral meeting with Mr Odbayar Erdenetsogt, Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of Mongolia, on the sidelines of the UN Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment taking place at FAO Headquarters from 24 to 26 July.

The Foreign Policy Advisor conveyed the congratulations of the President of Mongolia, H.E. Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh, to the Director-General for his second term and informed that the President had highly noted the dedication and support provided by FAO to its Members in contributing to the SDGs, and that he further conveyed his deep gratitude for the expanding scope of the FAO-Mongolia collaboration.

Recognizing the crucial timing and importance of the Stocktaking Moment, Mr Erdenetsogt appraised the Director-General for his profound leadership for the transformation of agrifood systems. He also briefed him on Mongolia's National Pathway, green policy and green development of the country, and the achievements made by Mongolia as a landlocked country (LLDC).

The Director-General reaffirmed the willingness to strengthen cooperation with Mongolia, especially on science and innovation, high value-added crops production, as well as support for the group of LLDCs. He informed of the establishment of the Office of Small Island Developing States (SIDS), Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) and the main work undertaken by this new Office.
