Bilateral meeting with the Minister for Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China – H.E. TANG Renjian
Rome - The FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, had a bilateral meeting with H.E. Tang Renjian, Minister for Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, ahead of the 43rd Session of the FAO Conference (1-7 July).
The Director-General expressed appreciation to China for its continuous support and urged China to increase its voluntary contributions to the Organization. The Minister appraised the Director-General for the extraordinary achievements over the past four years, and thanked FAO for supporting China in its agriculture and rural development. The Minister also conveyed China’s support for FAO’s budget proposal.
The two agreed to strengthen cooperation on, among others, South-South and Triangular Cooperation, Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS), and innovation in agriculture.
H.E. Ma Youxiang, Vice-Minister for Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, and H.E. Guang Defu, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of China to FAO, also participated in the meeting.
