Bilateral meeting with the Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs of Luxembourg - H.E. Franz Fayot

Rome - The Director-General, QU Dongyu, met at FAO headquarters in Rome with H.E. Franz Fayot, Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs, and Minister for Economy of Luxembourg.

The Director-General expressed his appreciation for Luxembourg’s strong commitment to FAO and its longstanding contributions to the Organization. The Minister congratulated the Director-General for his re-election and recalled their previous virtual meeting in 2021.

The pair discussed the potential of Digital Agriculture, for example digital infrastructure, big data exchange and supercomputing, as well as innovative financial products and services in achieving the SDGs and transforming global agrifood systems. These innovations can have a big, positive impact for small holder farmers worldwide.

The pair looked forward to working together on developing these innovative financial and digital services to speed up agrifood systems transformation.
