Bilateral meeting with the Minister of State and Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development of the Republic of Côte D'Ivoire - His Excellency Kobenan Kouassi Adjoumani

Rome - Director-General QU Dongyu and His Excellency Kobenan Kouassi Adjoumani, Minister of State and Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development of the Republic of Côte D'Ivoire, met on the margins of the UN Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment taking place at FAO Headquarters from 24 to 26 July 2023.

The Minister began by congratulating the Director-General for his re-election and thanked him for the support provided during his first term. He shared with the Director-General the details of the country’s National Agricultural Investment Plan and the National Development Policy for Livestock, Fisheries and Aquaculture 2022-2026.

The Minister informed the Director-General that the Government promotes close coordination between agro-sylvo-pastoral and fisheries activities and climate change adaption and mitigation activities, and is working closely with FAO on these matters. He noted that additional technical assistance was required in relation to value creation and marketing of agricultural products.

The Director-General thanked the Minister and reiterated the strong commitment of the Organization to support the Republic of Côte D'Ivoire. He applauded the Minister for the work that has been carried out and the focus being placed on transforming national agrifood systems.  

The Director-General and the Minister shared ideas on key strategic priorities to support agrifood systems transformation, including through innovation, youth engagement, increased production and value addition.
