Bilateral meeting with the Secretary of Animal and Plant Health of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply of Brazil - H.E. Carlos Goulart
Rome - FAO Director-General QU Dongyu met today with the H.E. Carlos Goulart, Secretary of Animal and Plant Health of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply of Brazil (MAPA) of Brazil at FAO headquarters in Rome on the margins of the 46th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission.
The Vice- Minister highlighted the importance of agrifood systems and the role of FAO in supporting food security and food safety standards, and stressed the commitment of Brazil to increase its contribution and further strengthen collaboration with FAO.
The Director-General welcomed the Vice-Minister and emphasized the existing strong cooperation between FAO and Brazil. He noted that FAO is a professional organization owned and led by its Members and that he works together with Members to improve FAO's work and results.
The FAO Director-General and the Vice- Minister agreed to continue their cooperation, through science-based approaches to support food security, food safety, and better nutrition in the context of transforming agrifood systems.
