Bilateral meeting with the Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico – Ambassador Joel Hernández García

Rome – The FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, met with the Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, Ambassador Joel Hernández García, on the sidelines of the World Food Forum, which is taking place at FAO headquarters in Rome from 16 to 20 October.

The Undersecretary noted that Mexico is a strong supporter of FAO's work and congratulated the Director-General for his leadership and actions at the helm of the Organization. He highlighted that the Organization is now recognized by FAO Members as being more efficient and effective.

The Director-General underlined that FAO enjoys a close cooperation with Mexico in several areas related to FAO's mandate. He noted that FAO is a professional organization owned and led by its Members and that he works together with Members to improve FAO's work and results.

He also highlighted FAO’s strategy to support the Dry Corridor of Central America aimed at mobilizing resources to create decent, labor-intensive jobs across the food value chain, train farmers and build resilience to the impacts of the climate crisis.
