Bilateral meeting with the Vice-Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of the Kingdom of Cambodia – Mr Prak David

Rome - FAO Director-General QU Dongyu and Prak David, Vice-Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of the Kingdom of Cambodia, met on the sidelines of the World Food Forum (WFF) 2023.

The Director-General highlighted that the Kingdom of Cambodia has blossomed economicallyover the past two decades and reached lower middle-income status in 2015, with ambitions to attain upper middle-income status.  He proceeded to note the potential for further developing the aquaculture sector, and for developing new varieties of hybrid rice, in the country.

The Director-General also noted with appreciation the Kingdom of Cambodia’s participation in the Hand-in-Hand Initiative Investment Forum this year, where they are presenting their investment plans to transform agrifood systems.

The Vice Minister expressed great appreciation for FAO’s work in the Kingdom of Cambodia, where the country portfolio is increasing, and agreed with the Director-General on the ambition to further improve value chains in the country.
