Bilateral meeting with the Vice-Minister for Environment, Water and Agriculture of Saudi Arabia - H.E Eng. Mansour bin Hilal Al Mushaiti

Rome - The FAO Director-General, Qu Dongyu, today met with H.E. Eng. Mansour bin Hilal Al Mushaiti Vice-Minister for Environment, Water and Agriculture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on the margins of the 43rd Session of the FAO Conference.

The Vice Minister congratulated the Director-General on his election for a second term, and provided an overview of the ongoing efforts of the Kingdom to transform agrifood systems and enhance the efficiency of water management, appreciating FAO leadership in supporting its Members in the transformation.

The Director-General welcomed the Vice Minister to FAO, expressing his appreciation for the ongoing efforts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in particular the Saudi Arabia's Green Initiative (SGI) and the Middle East Green Initiative (MGI), expressing FAO’s ongoing support to these initiatives.

The Director-General and the Vice Minister agreed to continue cooperation, including through South-South and Triangular cooperation (SSTC) to support Members in enhancing research, technology and innovation for strengthening food security and through the provision of technical and advisory support to strategies and programmes in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
