Director General Qu meets Guatemala’s Ambassador Recari

Guatemala’s envoy to FAO to take up new UN post helping to oversee Colombia’s peace process.

FAO will continue supporting peacebuilding efforts in Colombia, Director-General Qu Dongyu today assured Guatemalan Ambassador Karla Recari, who UN Secretary-General António Guterres has recently appointed as his Deputy Special Representative and Deputy Head of the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia.

Recari has been serving as Guatemala’s Ambassador to Italy and Permanent Representative to the United Nations’ Organizations in Rome.

Congratulating her on her new position, the FAO Director-General noted FAO’s activities related to the implementation of Colombia’s Peace Agreement, in particular in the rural areas that have been most affected by the country’s five-decade long internal conflict.
