Director-General and Minister Commissioner for Food Security of Mali team up for food security initiatives

16 October 2019, Rome – FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu and H.E. Kassoum Denon, Minister Commissioner for Food Security of Mali, in talks today reviewed key food security initiatives supported by the country.

The Minister Commissioner for Food Security congratulated the Director-General on his recent election, commending the importance of his experience as Minister in his current role. H.E. Kassoum Denon and the FAO Director-General agreed on the Organization’s support to convene a round table for the National Food and Nutrition Security Policy (PolSAN), adopted in May 2019 by the Government and jointly developed in close collaboration with FAO. 

The Director-General, for his part, expressed appreciation for H.E. Kassoum Denon’s participation in the World Food Day 2019 Ceremony at FAO Headquarters and alluded to the different celebrations taking place around the world on this occasion.
