Director-General and Norway Deputy Minister of International Development outline strong collaboration

14 October 2019, Rome - FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu met today with the Deputy Minister of International Development of Norway, Aksel Jakobsen, to discuss ways to further strengthen the collaboration between Norway and the Organization.

Deputy Minister Jakobsen welcomed the holistic approach from the Director-General on food systems and commended his efforts to give FAO more visibility in the UN system. He also underscored the critical importance of collaboration to achieve sustainable food systems and the key role of FAO in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The parties stressed the fact that strengthening cohesion, collaboration and coordination between Member Countries is key to achieving common goals. 

The FAO Director-General outlined Norway as one of the largest resource partners for assessed and voluntary contributions.
