Director-General meets Deputy Secretary General for Fisheries Policy and Foreign Affairs of Estonia

2 December 2019, Rome - FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu met today with Siim Tiidemann, Deputy Secretary General for Fisheries Policy and Foreign Affairs of Estonia, at the Organization’s headquarters in Rome.
The parties met on the sidelines of the 163rd Session of the FAO Council, which is held this week 2-6 December 2019.
Estonia proposed the International Year of Rye in 2025, during the 41st Session of the FAO Conference last June 2019, to improve production efficiencies, research and development investments and food sector linkages. Rye has the ability to grow in harsh environments, where other cereals cannot. The Director-General expressed his support to the International Year of Rye initiative.
