Director-General meets Russian Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs

6 December 2019, Rome - FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu met today with Sergey Vershinin, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, at the Organization’s headquarters in Rome.

The pair met on the sidelines of the 163rd Session of the FAO Council that was concluded today. They followed up on the recent visit of the Director-General to the Russian Federation in October and underlined the importance of solidarity and development in joint support activities of the parties.

The FAO Director-General commended the Russian Federation for their great support to the Organization. The many projects supported by the country show their strong commitment and shared vision.

The Organization’s new Hand-in-Hand initiative, supported by the Russian Federation, is a good example of opportunities to further strengthen the collaboration with FAO, focusing on tangible and timely results that benefit people in the world’s most vulnerable regions.
