Director-General meets with President of the UN General Assembly

14 November 2019, New York - FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu said his meeting with Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, the President of the United Nations General Assembly was " very positive" and that he anticipated strong cooperation in harnessing agriculture in the fight against poverty.
"I am looking forward to working closely together to modernize and make agriculture in developing countries more sustainable and to accelerate our efforts in poverty reduction and sustainable development", the Director-General said after the bilateral meeting today.
Having the discussion at the UN's headquarters in New York will help mobilize support for this effort, he added.
