Director-General praises the First Lady of Colombia for her engagement to improve nutrition

FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu met today with Her Excellency Maria Juliana Ruiz, First Lady of Colombia.

During talks, the Director-General expressed appreciation for the nutrition initiatives led by the First Lady, and acknowledged her engagement in nutrition-sensitive issues in Colombia and abroad.

The FAO Director-General also highlighted the fact that to promote healthy diets, it is essential to improve food quality and promote adequate and balanced consumption patterns.

Her Excellency Maria Juliana Ruiz underscored her determination to improve early childhood nutrition in Colombia,with the support of the private sector, civil society entities and other stakeholders. She has also been involved in national initiatives to address food loss and waste and sanitation.
