FAO Director-General and UN Women Executive Director to step up collaboration

14 November 2019, New York - FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu met today with Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women. The counterparts participated in a meeting of the Chief Executives of United Nations bodies engaged with the Sustainable Development Goals.

In their talks, the FAO Director-General expressed the Organization’s full commitment to support the 25th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action – Beijing + 25, to be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 9 to 20 March 2020.

The parties agreed to work more closely together as strategic allies to advance women’s development in all areas, especially in rural areas.
