FAO Director-General and his counterpart from Bioversity International agree on future areas of collaboration

4 November 2019, Rome - FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu met today with Juan Lucas Restrepo, Director General of Bioversity International to discuss ways to work more closely together on issues of common interest.
In their talks, the parties explored ways to concretely strengthen the long-standing partnership between the two Organizations, focusing on future areas of cooperation.
The FAO Director-General, for his part, stressed the importance of scientific research for plant health, biodiversity and food security and highlighted the strong need to have a comprehensive and holistic approach to science and technology, which are key elements in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
