FAO Director-General meets with Mr. François Roux, Head of Cabinet of the President of the European Council

16 December 2019, Brussels - The head of Cabinet, on behalf of the President of the European Council, welcomed the first visit of the Director-General to the European Union. The Director-General congratulated Mr François Roux with the appointment of Charles Michel, who took office on 1 December and is happy to be the first FAO Director-General to meet with the office of the President of the European Council.
The Director-General commended the strategic partnership with the European Union. The head of Cabinet of the President of the European Council underlined the important role the FAO plays as a knowledge Organization, appreciated the Director-General's efforts to build a transparent, dynamic and inclusive FAO, and committed EU’s continued support for FAO and the Director-General.
The two parties agreed to work together closely on biodiversity, food security, and to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, in Africa in particular.
