Read-out of FAO Director-General’s meeting with Christian Hofer, Director-General of the Federal Office for Agriculture of Switzerland

Rome - FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, and the Director-General of the Federal Office for Agriculture of Switzerland, Christian Hofer, today met virtually to discuss further collaboration between FAO and Switzerland.

Director-General Hofer underlined the importance of the follow up to the UN Food Systems Summit and commended the FAO Director-General for the establishment of and progress made by the Food Systems Coordination Hub hosted by FAO on behalf of the UN system. He further expressed his appreciation for the recent joint publication “A multi-billion-dollar opportunity – Repurposing agricultural support to transform food systems” by FAO, UNDP and UNEP.

Director-General Qu thanked Director-General Hofer for Switzerland’s’ support for the Innovation Awards that took place during the first World Food Forum (WFF) in October last year. The award acknowledged digital innovation, and new or existing products or practices that are used in a specific context, to increase effectiveness, competitiveness and resilience.
