Read-out of the FAO Director-General’s meeting with Enrico Giovannini, Minister for Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility of Italy

Rome - FAO Director-General QU Dongyu today met the Italy’s Minister for Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility, Enrico Giovannini at FAO’s headquarters.

The Director-General thanked the Minister for the Government of Italy’s cooperation and generous contributions towards the internal and external renovation of the FAO buildings in Rome.

The Director-General in particular thanked the Minister for the support by the Ministry for Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility for the renovation of the main façade of Building A and the renovation of the roof of Building D, including the placement of solar panels and a green roof.

The pair visited several sites of the FAO building that have been recently completed, like the VIP entrance, the new glass curtain façade and the Uzbekistan Lounge, as well as some sites that are currently under construction, like the FAO control room and the site for the possible new photovoltaic roof.

The pair also visited the Plenary Hall where the restoration work of the entire artistic plaster ceiling, entitled “Universo”, by Mirko Basaldella, has been completed.
