Read-out of the FAO Director-General’s meeting with the Minister for Agriculture of El Salvador, Enrique Parada

Rome – FAO Director-General QU Dongyu today met the Minister for Agriculture of El Salvador, Enrique Parada, on the sidelines of the World Food Forum (WFF), which is being held at FAO headquarters.

The Minister conveyed his appreciation for the cooperation provided by FAO to El Salvador, especially in the face of the challenges faced by the country due to the impacts of the climate crisis, as well as other actions and projects in support of the agrifood system. 

In this regard, the Minister specifically requested FAO’s assistance in the face of the recent climatic emergency. The Minister further informed that a national fund had been set up to address the situation. 

The Director-General assured the Minister of FAO’s continued support to El Salvador and the commitment to bring the collaboration to a new level. The Director-General also confirmed FAO’s full technical support for the current emergency, also in collaboration with the FAO Office for Emergencies and Resilience.
