Read-out of the meeting between FAO Director-General QU Dongyu and Mr Gabriel Ferrero y de Loma-Osorio, Chair of the Committee on World Food Security

Today, 21 October 2021, the FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu met with Mr Gabriel Ferrero y de Loma-Osorio, Chair of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS).

The Director-General congratulated Mr Ferrero on his election as the new chair of the CFS, reiterating FAO’s support to the CFS as an inclusive global platform hosted by FAO and supported by the RBAs for multi-stakeholder engagement.

The CFS Chair expressed his appreciation of FAO’s continued support to the CFS, and confirmed that the CFS will continue to work closely with FAO to support the achievement of SDGs and the follow-up to the Food Systems Summit.

The Director-General of FAO and the CFS Chair agreed that the High-Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition provides valuable support for the science-policy interface.

The two sides also agreed on the importance of the active engagement of members with the CFS processes and the effective implementation of the CFS products towards sustainable agri-food systems.

The Director-General of FAO and the Chair of the CFS agreed to consolidate collaboration and engagement further.
