Readout of FAO Director-General QU Dongyu’s bilateral meeting with Abdallah Bou Habib, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Emigrants of Lebanon

Rome - FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu today met with Abdallah Bou Habib, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Emigrants of Lebanon.

During their discussion, the Director-General confirmed FAO's continued commitment to supporting the agrifood sector in Lebanon, including through the One Country One Priority Product programme (OCOP), and building on its high potential and the comparative advantages of Lebanon’s agrifood products. FAO is currently working with the government on strengthening agriculture and agrifood-based livelihoods through agricultural inputs, vouchers, technical schools, and capacity building on good agricultural practices.

Minister Bou Habib expressed the appreciation of the Lebanese Government for FAO’s continued support to Lebanon. The Minister emphasized the role that FAO can play in supporting economic growth in Lebanon, as well as capacity building of the agriculture institutions.

The Director-General and Minister Bou Habib agreed to continue the discussions through the relevant offices in FAO and the Lebanese Government.
