Readout of the Director-General’s bilateral meeting with the President of Bolivia, Luis Alberto Arce Catacora
Buenos Aires – FAO Director-General QU Dongyu met with the President of Bolivia, Luis Alberto Arce Catacora, on the sidelines of the 7th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
They noted the challenges facing Latin America and the Caribbean in terms of food security and nutrition, and discussed ways of strengthening collaboration with FAO towards the transformation of agrifood systems.
The Director-General also encouraged Bolivia and the region to make a greater use of FAO as platform for promoting their products and exchanging knowledge and expertise in several areas. In this sense he mentioned the World Food Forum and its three pillars (Youth, Science and Innovation, and Investments) as well as the Hand-in-Hand Initiative.
