Readout of the FAO Director-General’s meeting with Mariam Bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb AlMheiri, Minister for Climate Change and Environment of the United Arab Emirates

Rome - FAO Director-General QU Dongyu today met Mariam Bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb AlMheiri, Minister for Climate Change and Environment of the United Arab Emirates.

The Director-General welcomed the continued cooperation between FAO and the United Arab Emirates and the strong support of the UAE to FAO's work, including the Hand-in-Hand Initiative.

The Minister provided an overview of the United Arab Emirates' priorities in the agrifood system, referring to FAO's support to the UAE in implementing the National Food Security Strategy 2051 and the cooperation in some Hand-in-Hand Initiative countries.

The Director-General and the Minister agreed to strengthen their cooperation in the lead to UNFCCC COP28, which will be hosted by the UAE next year, ensuring the integration of the food and agriculture sectors.
