Readout of the bilateral meeting between FAO Director-General QU Dongyu and H.E. Ljupcho Nikolovski, Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy of North Macedonia

Rome - The FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu met with H.E. Ljupcho Nikolovski, Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy of North Macedonia.

The Director-General and the Minister discussed ways to transform national agrifood systems to make them more resilient to global threats. In particular the pair discussed negative effects on global food security caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis, the war in Ukraine and other conflicts and humanitarian emergencies around the world. The Minister informed the Director-General about new set of measures he had introduced to mitigate the negative effects of trade disruptions related to the war in Ukraine.

During the meeting, the Minister signed the Country Programming Framework (CPF) for 2021-2025, adding further commitment to the joint work between North Macedonia and FAO in the years to come for the full implementation of the CPF.
