Russian Prime Minister Medvedev expresses full support for FAO initiatives

9 October 2019, Moscow- FAO Director -General Qu Dongyu met today with Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, on the sidelines of the 21st International Agro-Industrial “Golden Autumn - 2019” Exhibition in Moscow. It was the first bilateral meeting of an FAO Director-General with a Russian Prime Minister.

During talks, the Russian Prime Minister congratulated the FAO Director-General for his recent election and expressed support for his initiatives.

They discussed a number of issues of common interest, including the need for collective action at global level. The Russian Federation considers FAO’s role as key for ensuring food security and nutrition in the world.

The FAO Director-General presented the Organization’s new Hand-in-Hand Initiative, which was welcomed by Russian Prime Minister.

The “Golden Autumn - 2019” exhibition is the main agricultural forum held annually by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture for over 20 years, preserving the best traditions of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition and developing the modern technologies of the exhibition business in the area of industrial agriculture.
