UN Secretary-General expects FAO to play a dynamic role in achieving the SDGs

29 August 2019, Yokohama – FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu today briefed UN Secretary-General António Guterres on his vision for the Organization and its work, within the context of its mandate, in assisting countries to realize the SDGs.
During their meeting on the sidelines of TICAD, Qu also thanked the Secretary-General for his leadership and guidance and expressed his strong support for Secretary-General’s efforts to promote reform of the UN system.
For his part, Secretary-General Guterres stressed his high expectations for FAO led by Qu to play a dynamic role in the achievement of SDGs.
