US Secretary of Agriculture Perdue confident that Director-General Qu can usher new era at FAO

19 September 2019, Washington DC – United States Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today congratulated FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu for taking up the position, and during their meeting he also envisaged strengthening collaboration with FAO.
In particular, Perdue expressed confidence that with a strong background in science, the FAO Director-General can usher important changes at the UN agency.
The Secretary of Agriculture reiterated the US Government’s commitment to support Qu’s work at FAO to end hunger and build a healthy world.
Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals on time by 2030.
