Bilateral Meeting with H.E. General Abed Hallouz, Director-General, Agency for International Cooperation, Solidarity and Development of Algeria

Algiers - During the first day of his official visit to Algeria, the Director-General met with H.E. General Abed Hallouz, Director-General of the Agency for International Cooperation, Solidarity and Development- of Algeria.

During the meeting, General Hallouz presented an overview of the role and mandate of the Agency emphasizing its role in supporting engagement and cooperation with partner countries to achieve sustainable development. General Hallouz further explained the key priorities of the Agency and its projects in African countries indicating that the Agency looked forward to enhancing cooperation with FAO to achieve common goals.

The Director-General expressed his appreciation for the cooperation between FAO and Algeria, as well as for supporting sustainable development in Developing Countries and Least Developed Countries.

The Director-General emphasized that South-South and Triangular Cooperation was one of the key priorities of FAO, playing an important role in supporting agricultural development, food security and agrifood systems transformation.

The two sides agreed to continue discussions between FAO and the Agency to identify key priority areas and specific projects that can lead to tangible impact on the ground, in cooperation with other resource partners.
