Bilateral meeting with H.E. Wang Wentao, Minister for Commerce of China

Beijing - FAO Director-General QU Dongyu met with H.E. Wang Wentao, Minister for Commerce of China.

The Director-General and the Minister had a constructive discussion focusing on three topics: policy on agricultural trade and investment; e-commerce development for agricultural products; and cross-border agricultural supply chain.

The Minister expressed willingness to further strengthen cooperation between the Ministry of Commerce and FAO, deepen practical exchanges and cooperation in various fields such as agricultural trade and investment, capacity building, digital economy and green development.

The Director-General conveyed his willingness to strengthen cooperation in these areas and the pair agreed to also develop more cooperation opportunities to provide support for the transformation of agrifood systems in developing countries, actively promote South-South and Triangular Cooperation, in support of the achievement of the SDGs.
