Bilateral meeting with the First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, H.E. Nino Tandilashvili

Rome - The FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, and H.E. Nino Tandilashvili, First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, met in Rome on the sidelines of the34th session of the FAO Regional Conference for Europe (ERC) to discuss ways to further foster collaboration between FAO and Georgia.

The Director-General congratulated the First Deputy Minister on election as Member of the Governing Board of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), which opens opportunities for Georgia to get enhanced access to green financing and strengthened climate action. The Director-General urged First Deputy Minister to support Small Island Developing States (SIDS) as they are the guardians of the major part of our biodiversity.

The First Deputy Minister informed the Director-General that Georgia had joined the One Country One Priority Product (OCOP) Initiative and that Georgia’s focus was on market diversification and increased trade of Georgian wine. She added that Georgian wine was being exhibited at ERC34 in Rome.

Both discussed agrotourism and its importance for the successful transformation of agrifood systems.
