Bilateral meeting with the Minister of the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) of Brazil, H.E. Bruno Dantas

Rome  – The FAO Director-General QU Dongyu met today at FAO headquarters with the H.E. Bruno Dantas, Minister and President of the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) of the Federative Republic of Brazil.

The Director-General welcomed the Minister and referred to FAO’s mandate as a technical organization working on food and agriculture, as well as the existing strong cooperation between FAO and Brazil.

The Minister highlighted his role as Chair of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) and President of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI20). He referred to the common areas of interest for the TCU and FAO, focusing on combating hunger and poverty.

The Minister also informed the Director-General of the upcoming meeting of the Supreme Audit Institutions and Partner Organizations (SAI20) to be held in Belém, Pará, in June 2024. The Minister highlighted that the meeting will also feature discussions on topics aligned with the G20's agenda and the priorities of the Brazilian government during its 2024 presidency, including the fight against hunger and poverty, climate finance, and energy transition. 

The Director-General and the Minister agreed to collaborate of areas of work focused on fighting hunger and improving livelihoods.
