Meeting with Slobodan Cvijanović, Assistant Minister, Department of Agriculture, Food, Forestry and Rural Development of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Rome - FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, and H.E. Slobodan Cvijanović, Assistant Minister, Department of Agriculture, Food, Forestry and Rural Development of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, met in Rome on the sidelines of the FAO Regional Conference for Europe to discuss ways to further foster collaboration between FAO and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Director-General noted H.E. Assistant Minister Cvijanović’s active support as National Convenor for Food Systems Transformation and SDG localization. He added that FAO commends Bosnia and Herzegovina’s commitment to the Food Systems Transformation Process, demonstrated by the appointment of the Assistant Minister Cvijanović as National Dialogue Convenor, and the country’s active involvement in the UN Food Systems Summit+2 in July 2023.

The Director-General expressed appreciation for the steadfast support of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, noting it had been instrumental in advancing shared objectives and fostering the success of joint UN operations. He added that FAO reaffirms its commitment to further support the recent transfer of the Green Climate Fund's National Designated Authority to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations.

The Assistant Minister conveyed his country’s appreciation for the collaboration with FAO under the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and looked forward to future partnerships through the GEF Small Grant Programme, which had recently been extended to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Both agreed to continue working together to accelerate agrifood systems transformation in the country.
