Readout of the bilateral meeting with H.E. Wilmar Castro Soteldo Minister for Productive Agriculture and Land of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela

Georgetown, Guyana - FAO Director-General QU Dongyu met with H.E. Wilmar Castro Soteldo Minister for Productive Agriculture and Land of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on the sidelines of the FAO Regional Ministerial Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean (LARC38) in Georgetown, Guyana.

The Minister thanked the Director-General for the opportunity to meet him personally and for the support provided by FAO to Venezuela in addressing domestic vulnerabilities related to the agriculture sector.

The Director-General appreciated the joint collaboration and stressed the importance for Venezuela to continue to improve productivity, to protect food through proper storage, and to ensure food safety during processing to increase income.

The FAO Director-General and the Minister agreed to continue their cooperation and reiterated their collective will to strengthen the partnership between the Organization and to join forces and work together towards common objectives.
