1.         I am pleased to join my colleague Francesco La Camera, IRENA Chief, to showcase our joint Energy Compact.

 

2.         Through this Energy Compact our target over the next five years, in at least five countries, is to:

•          Undertake agri-food systems assessments for renewable energy interventions at the country and regional level;

•          Support pilot projects and programs through partnerships with local and international stakeholders;

•          Strengthen the enabling environment for renewables adoption in terms of policy, capacity building and project facilitation; and

•          Support joint advocacy across national, regional and global forums on the energy-food nexus.

 

3.         We invite interested governments, the private sector, financial institutions and development partners to together for food security and energy security in the rural areas.

 

4.         This is crucial to achieving our common vision for inclusive, resilient and sustainable agri-food systems and energy systems.

 

5.         For better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life, leaving no one behind!
