Mangroves occur along the continental coast of Tanzania and on Zanzibar Island. Avicennia marina, Ceriops tagal, Lumnitzera racemosa, Rhizophora mucronata and Acrostichum aureum are included in this ecosystem among other species. There are several mangrove areas, the largest being located along the Rufiji River Delta.
