INFORMATION NOTE ON ARRANGEMENTS |
1. LOCATION OF SESSION
By kind invitation of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, the First Session of the Intergovernmental Group on Bananas and on Tropical Fruits will be held in the Gold Coast, from 4 to 8 May 1999 in cooperation with the Australian Banana Growers Council. The Session will be held at:

3. ENTRY FORMALITIES
Delegates and accompanying travellers who, because of their nationality, require visas, should apply for them at the embassies/consulates of Australia, in their respective countries of residence. Should any difficulties arise, the Liaison Officer should be informed at least four weeks prior to the Session.
4. HOTEL ACCOMMODATION
Delegates should make their hotel reservation by completing the attached form and forwarding it to:

Please note that hotel prices have been specially arranged for a limited number of rooms in each hotel (see Appendix 1), and therefore delegates should confirm their bookings as early as possible.
5. TRANSPORT
Delegates who advise Acclaim Special Events and Meeting Management of flight details and arrival times will be met at either Brisbane or Coolangatta Airports. Transport to the Conrad Jupiters and Grand Mercure Hotels will be provided. Departure tax is $A27.00.
6. BANKING FACILITIES
Exchange rate is approximately $A0.60 to US$1.00. Currency can be exchanged at the airports through the Travel Bureau De Change which are open to service all incoming and outgoing international flights. There are automatic teller machines which may take major credit cards. All major Australian banks have branches located near the hotels. Banking hours are 0930-1600 hours Monday to Friday.
7. CLIMATE
The climate is sub-tropical. May is autumn (fall) in Australia and the temperature ranges from 15 to 26 degrees Celsius.
8. PROVISIONAL TIMETABLE
The opening ceremony will take place at 0930 hours on Tuesday, 4 May 1999 and the Session is expected to conclude its work in the afternoon of Saturday, 8 May 1999. The provisional timetable is attached as Appendix 1.
9. REGISTRATION
The registration will be conducted at the Conrad Jupiters Hotel from 1700 to 1900 hours on Monday, 3 May and from 0830 to 1000 hours on Tuesday, 4 May.
