APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP IN THE ORGANIZATION |
1. The Director-General wishes to inform the Conference that, since the issue of document C 99/10, he has received the following additional application for membership in the Organization.
Federated States of Micronesia
An application for membership was received on 27 August 1999, in the form of a letter signed by the Secretary for Foreign Affairs of the Federated States of Micronesia and dated 27 August 1999 (Appendix E). In the same communication, the Secretary for Foreign Affairs declares that his Government undertakes fully and faithfully to carry out the obligations of the constitution of FAO. The application was communicated by Circular Letter G/CA 11/1 of 15 October 1999 to FAO Member Nations by the Director-General in pursuance of his responsibilities under Rule XIX-2 of the General Rules of the Organization.

| I have the
honour to inform you that the Government of the Federated States of Micronesia has decided
to apply for membership in the Food an Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. I
therefore, request that, in conformity with Rule XIX, Paragraph 2 of the General Rules of
the Organization, this application be laid before the Conference of the Organization
which, I understand, will hold its next Session in Rome in November 1999. The Government of the Federated States of Micronesia hereby formally accepts the obligations of membership in the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations laid down in the Constitution of the Organization and solemnly undertakes fully and faithfully to carry out these obligations as in force at the time of admission.
