Focus on the new e-Agriculture website                          [Online version]

The e-Agriculture team launches the newly designed website which is now hosted under the FAO domain with a corporate look and feel. The new website maintains the core-services such as news, events, forum discussions, good practices on the use of ICTs and other capacity development activities such as webinars and short-paced self-learning activities.

The most important aspects of the e-Agriculture platform is to share news and stimulate and hold discussions in various aspects of the application and use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in ending hunger and malnutrition and also improving agricultural productivity.We invite you to visit our website and familiarize yourself with its features and functionalities.

AsThe e-Agriculture CommuThe 31st session of the FAO Regional conference (#ERC31) started in Voronezh, Russian Federation and on the conference opening day E-Agriculture was discussed in the plenary session focusing on ICTs for the development of sustainable and inclusive food systems and ICTs for trade integration for the region. Publication: Status of E-Agriculture Implementation in Central/Eastern Europe & Central Asia

e-Agriculture Good and Promising Practices Published

Towards the end of 2017, the e-Agriculture Team announced a call for Good and Promising Practices in ICTs for Agriculture. We are pleased to inform that some good and promising practices have been published, and below we highlight just three.

e-Agriculture Good Practice - ZFU EcoFarmer Combo

ZFU EcoFarmer Combo is a bundle of services, including EcoFarmer Maize or Cattle Tips and Weather Indexed Insurance, ZFU Membership, and EcoSure Funeral Cover, which farmers can subscribe to. Read more

e-Agriculture Promising Practice FarmerLink

​Grameen Foundation’s breakthrough FarmerLink program combines satellite data and farm data collected by mobile-equipped field agents to help coconut farmers in the Philippines,to increase productivity, deal with crop pests and diseases, and cope with extreme weather. Read more

e-Agriculture Promising Practice: UPTAKE

CABI and FRI’s Upscaling Technologies in Agriculture through Knowledge and Extension (UPTAKE) project uses SMS messages to increase awareness and adoption of agricultural technologies in maize value chains. The project seeks to strengthen the adoption of improved maize varieties. Read more
