Innovation Talks: Fintech Startups shaping the future inclusive agrifood systems.

The FAO's strategic framework has a vision of a world free from hunger and malnutrition, achieved through the full utilization of science and innovation to tackle the intricate challenges within agrifood systems. In alignment with this vision, the Office of Innovation and the Rural Transformation and Gender Equality Division extend an invitation to participate in the forthcoming Innovation Talks: Fintech Startups Shaping the Future of Inclusive Agrifood Systems. This edition of Innovation Talks aims to analyze and promote models and innovations brougt forward by Fintech startups to address financing constraints for smallholder farmers. It will showcase best practices and challenges faced by startups in achieving inclusivity, profitability, and sustainability.  As we venture into the digital frontier, Digital Financial Services (DFS) emerge as a key player in empowering smallholder farmers.

From streamlining transactions to providing access to credit, DFS holds the promise of fostering resilience and boosting productivity in our global agrifood systems. DFS for smallholder farmers involves leveraging digital financial services and technologies to enhance financial inclusion and improve access to credit. Unlike traditional services, DFS offers advantages in improving efficiency, accessibility, and affordability, particularly benefiting marginalized groups such as rural populations, women and youth.  Fintech startups, rooted in innovation, aim to provide unique products and services that disrupt existing financial norms. With their innovative approach and understanding of sustainable development, they play a pivotal role in enhancing the inclusivity of DFS.

Join us on May 20th as we explore how Fintech startups are shaping the future of inclusive agrifood systems.
