Description
Confirmed that rapeseed grown in Canada and Australia would remain eligible for use in the EU market as environmentally-friendly feedstock for biodiesel.
Notes
The European Commission confirmed that rapeseed grown in Canada and Australia would remain eligible for entering the EU market as environmentally-friendly feedstock for biodiesel, as the crops have been shown to meet the blocs increasingly stringent requirements (N.B. From January 2018, all biodiesel feedstock need to deliver GHG lifecycle savings of 5060 percent compared to fossil fuels up from 35 percent in 2017). For Australia, the EU represents a top rapeseed export market, with the bulk of deliveries absorbed by the blocs biodiesel industry.
