Raised the mandatory inclusion rate for biodiesel in transport diesel, which entails a rise in domestic biodiesel production – based on imports of palm oil as primary feedstock.

Effective January 2018, the Republic of Korea raised the mandatory inclusion rate for biodiesel in transportation diesel from 2.5 percent to 3 percent. The new rate is set to remain in place until end 2020. Domestic biodiesel output is expected to increase accordingly and, with it, the country’s imports of palm oil, the primary feedstock for domestic biodiesel production.
