Description
Decided to set up an expert committee to explore opportunities for sustainable production, bilateral trade, exchange of relevant technologies and possible collaboration in downstream palm oil industry applications, with a view to protecting the interests of Swiss rapeseed producers, while Malaysia raises its palm oil exports to Switzerland.

Official sources reported that Malaysia and Switzerland agreed to cooperate on issue relating to palm oil. The two countries decided to set up an expert committee to explore opportunities towards sustainable production, bilateral trade, exchange of information about relevant technologies, and possible collaboration in downstream palm oil industry applications. Contributing to address the issue of increasingly negative consumer perception, the bilateral initiative is aimed at securing Malaysias palm oil exports to Switzerland without harming Switzerlands rapeseed producers. Switzerland maintains its target of covering about one third of domestic vegetable oil consumption through locally produced rapeseed.
