Malaysia conducted bilateral talks with the Philippines to examine the possibility of setting up joint ventures for oil palm plantations in the Philippines, with a view to cater to the country’s rising demand for vegetable oil for both food and industrial uses.

Government officials of the two countries discussed the possibility of setting up joint ventures for oil palm plantations in the Philippines to cater to the country’s rising demand for vegetable oil for both food and industrial uses. Reportedly, in the long term, the joint development of up to 80 000 hectares of oil palm plantations would be considered.
