The Agricultural Ministry announced plans to boost domestic olive oil production by promoting the planting of 100 million olive trees over the next three years. Reportedly, plots totalling 45 000 acres are ready to be assigned to local and foreign investors. The initiative is aimed at reducing the countrys reliance on edible oils imports.
