Description
Determined that the new regulations defining high/low indirect land-use change (ILUC)-risk biofuel feedstocks would come into force on 10 June 2019. The measure entails that, as of 2030, selected types of biodiesel may no longer count towards meeting the EUs green fuel consumption targets.

New EU regulations defining high/low ILUC-risk (indirect land use change) biofuel feedstocks came into force on 10 June (see also MPPU May19). While palm oil producing countries condemned the new measure for its allegedly discriminatory and protectionist nature, EU farmer organizations expressed concern that the regulation might not be effective in reducing the use of imported high ILUC-risk biofuel feedstock.
