Description
Released the Union Budget for 2019/20, allocating INR 1 304 billion (USD18.2 billion) to the agriculture sector. The Union Budget includes an investment of INR 750 billion (USD 10.5 billion) for the income support scheme (PM-KISAN); INR 35 billion (USD 488 million) for farm productivity; and INR 8 billion (USD 111.6 million) for agriculture-related infrastructure. In addition, fertilizer subsidy allocations were increased by INR 100 billion (USD 1.4 billion) to about INR 800 billion (USD 11.2 billion).
